I’ve finally made the switch to Ubuntu Linux, forever hopefully even though I still run a Windows VM Machine because I need some windows programs that don’t have a viable alternative on Linux. More on my thoughts on the new version of Ubuntu, 7.10, coming soon on ArenaIT.net and here (if I find time to translate them).
I leave you with a picture of my desktop (clean, shiny and transparent). CompizFusion works great. Cube for everyone!
It’s been a long time since I last posted something here and to be honest I don’t quite know if I should keep this little corner of myself online anymore. I mean, I have no inspiration, I can’t write anything worth reading no matter how much I try… and it sucks! Yeah, I’ve been used to be able to write whenever I wanted but now it seems that something isn’t working right.
I stand in the front of my notebook looking at the screen and think about what I should write and I find nothing at all; it’s like my mind is empty. So I’ll give myself some time to decide if to close shop or not (I don’t want to take advantage of Nimic.org and stay online without new content or visitors just to waste their storage space).
OK, I am not posting as planed due to some technical difficulties. My network administrator was noticed that I lack an Internet connexion and he came to verify. The strange part was that on his notebook everything went fine but on both of my PC’s it didn’t (they are alternately connected to the net so I use MAC spoofing on my Dell notebook). After verifying the server and concluding that everything works well there he recommended reinstalling the OS’s…
I had the good idea to test and see if my network is working well under Ubuntu before calling him to check it out: the result, it wasn’t working so an OS reinstall would of been useless. Now, at 5:48AM everything seems to work fine. The bad part is that I installed Ubuntu on my Dell machine alongside with Vista and that damn MS product won’t boot now (it just sits there, loading and loading and loading). I suspect the cause to be the partition resize I’ve done to reinstall Linux so I will do a repair on Windows via a recovery console and everything should work out just fine.
In other news tomorrow is the first day of Cogito Ergo Sum, a kind of open lectures on different themes. Unfortunately I found out a little late about them and managed to enroll as an active participant (which means I can talk during the lectures) only in two courses. More details to come.
OK, so I’m back online thanks to the nice people of Nimic.org who so kindly provided the web hosting I was in need of.
The updates will come at regular intervals from now on (at least I hope so) and I might even do some audio-posts if the time allows me to. I hope to be able to update every day but if I can’t rest assured that you will read new things every Sunday, Tuesday and Friday.
While browsing the net I stumbled upon a comic called Questionable Content. After reading a few strips it became my favorite comic so far, being as good as my old time favorite Sam and Fuzzy. The comic’s about the life of Marten Reed, an indie rock fan stuck with a sarcastic but overly protective girl named Faye. The comic is updated every weekday (from Monday to Friday).
Also, Gone With The Blastwave has received an update consisting in a new strip (number 32). For those who don’t know, GWTB is a strip about the fight between two armies, the reds and the blues, in a post apocalyptic world.
Finally, another newly discovered comic is named Nine Planets Without Intelligent Life and is about two robots trying to discover themselves. The action takes place in the future, after the end of the human race (at least they died happy). The comic has some philosophic ideas that integrate well with the rest of the comic. I recommend it despite the fact that the updates have ceased (at least temporarily).
By the way, this is probably the last post before my inter-semestrial holiday which starts this Monday so this means that the next post will be published sometimes next week. Also, wish me luck on my Friday partial exam at Cisco Networking Academy.
I’ve recently switched to the new WordPress 2.1 version from the old 2.0.7. Everything seems to work fine except I have a little problem with the links so they have been removed but they’ll be back soon. Also, I don’t have a microphone so the audio parts of the posts aren’t going to appear soon.
I promised on the relaunch of the site a surprise for the readers. The surprise consists on a theme change of the site. I want your opinion upon this change so please vote in the poll and leave a comment if you have other suggestions.

Welcome back to Suicidal Tendency. The site is again up and running after it took a short break. You might notice the fact that we now have a new address (www.suicidal-tendency.net) and a new host (thanks to Darius from E-Utile); despite the new host some of the files will remain on the Evonet account because it is a Romanian server and the speeds are better and so the audio files will be loaded more quickly.
Nothing changed to the overall design of the site except the removal of the photo gallery (hopefully it will be back soon) but in the near future I have some surprises planned. The audio files are still in place but I noticed that they can’t be played if the site is viewed in Internet Explorer; I recommend switching to Firefox (there is a link on the menu on the right) but if you really want to see the site in IE and listen to the audio the only option is to head to the file browser and go to multimedia and then podcasts and listen or download the one you’re interested in.
This is all for now but stay close because there will be future posts in which I will explain the reasons for which the break was taken and the things that happened while Suicidal Tendency was offline.
I recently had a discussion with Darius from E-Utile who was telling me that if I would write in Romanian I would have more visitors on the blog. My answer at the time was that I will continue writing in English despite having little visitors. I have found a solution that makes both parties happy, both myself and the readers who prefer articles written in Romanian.
From now on I will continue writing in English but that will not be all; at the end of each article you will find two recordings, one in English and one in Romanian. You will be given the option to read the text, listen to the English recording or the Romanian one or even all of them. Texts that are filled under Silent Creations and Words Embrace will be the exceptions from the rule, remaining without audio in Romanian or English although it is possible that some articles from Words Embrace to contain recordings if I see it fit.
I hope to please a large number of readers this way and to maintain the same level of quality the blog has had.
This is a funny little flash movie and I guess the title says it all.
Dial-up readers or any readers with slow internet connections (low bandwidth) should be armed with patience because the movie is quite large (aprox 4mb) and it may take a while to load. In order to view the movie click on more.
There is also a problem with IE which causes the movie to stretch and to make the sidemenu invisible.
